It seems unlikely that a paladin with years of training would go down both sides of the ideological alignment chart. Remember, a switch in alignment would still go through the phases of neutral, so would you go down the lawful to chaotic, or the good to evil? Would you maintain the good but decide to exploit your powers for what you decide is the greater good (going towards chaotic), or would you maintain order and discipline but decide that evil makes more sense as the method of "fixing" the world (going down the good to evil side). That, to me, would be more of a true role play, and when you get to the inner Baal transition, you can make that turn into a direct shift toward eschewing your prior zealotry. Turning into a straight up fighter, you can still be Uber powerful just without all the divine tricks. You'll eventually become a fallen paladin, but since Blackguards are such a dedicated class, it really wouldn't make sense for a full paladin to become a Blackguard without an entire set of training and guidance of a dark power. It's probably going to be so much more satisfying to allow the paladin you created in BG1 to fully import to BG2 and maintain that ideologically good stance but let it erode slowly. That is dedicated to their role as serving dark forces in their pursuit of an ideology of power and domination. Looking for other players?
